Reality Band
Artist overview
Go-Go Mickey’s own biography gives Reality Band a firm early anchor: Milton “Go-Go Mickey” Freeman says he joined Reality Band in 1980 before moving through Redds & the Boys and Ayre Rayde and joining Rare Essence in 1984. The surviving recording trail then becomes especially dense from 1983 through 1987 across schools, parks, clubs and skating venues. Public Old School Go-Go listings independently preserve multiple Reality recordings from 1984–87.
Music
Live & PA archive
The Reality trail is a good example of why the archive treats surviving PA/live catalogs as evidence without turning every label into a proven historical fact. Exact dates from independent public listings are preserved; “feat. Go-Go Mickey” labels after his documented 1984 move to Rare Essence are treated as guest/feature evidence, not proof of continued membership.
Timeline
Freeman’s own biography establishes Reality Band as active by 1980.
Current working catalog includes Bus Stop, Cheriy’s, Coolidge H.S., H.D. Woodson, Highland and Silver Spring Rec Center.
Howard Theatre, Lincoln Park, Panorama Room, Riggs Park, Quincy Street NE and other sites appear in the surviving trail.
Old School Go-Go preserves Evans Grill, Wilmers Park, Cheriy’s and Coolidge H.S. entries among others.
The catalogs preserve Crystal Skate, W.U.S.T., Black Hole, Annapolis, Cross Creek, Woodson H.S. and ball-diamond/block-party dates.
Later catalog entries preserve Metro/Highland-era returns and a Howard Theatre reunion entry.

Connections
Reality Band connects several important archive trails: Go-Go Mickey’s early development, the Redds & the Boys / Ayre Rayde / Rare Essence personnel network, and a broad circuit of schools, parks, neighborhood sites and classic Go-Go rooms. That makes Reality historically useful even though a full commercial discography and formation story are still open research questions.
