Genre recognition • public transparency

INDUSTRY
RECOGNITION.

The evidence, the request and the status—shown separately.

PACKET PREPARED

Go-Go should be named as Go-Go.

I AM GO-GO’s evidence brief describes Go-Go as a distinct genre of Black American popular music that emerged in Washington, D.C., with deep relationships to funk, soul and R&B, blues, jazz, gospel, and Latin and Afro-Caribbean traditions.

The request is for accurate recognition, discoverability and a documented review path—not a claim that every service currently handles Go-Go the same way.

Transparency

Prepared is not the same as sent.

Current public status: the October 14 packet is a prepared final-review set. This website does not mark an outreach item “sent” unless there is a documented submission. Amazon Music is held for the current rollout.

The downloadable packet itself carries its preparation date and route notes so visitors can see exactly what was prepared.

Community support

More than 14,000 verified petition signatures.

The Chuck Brown Foundation’s Change.org petition calling for Go-Go genre listings across music services showed more than 14,000 verified signatures as of October 14, 2026. I AM GO-GO presents that number as evidence of public interest—not as historical proof by itself.
