Petworth Band
Artist overview
Petworth Band is one of the bands that made neighborhood identity visible inside Go-Go. The working live catalog begins in 1982 and becomes especially strong around the Howard Theatre, schools and block-party circuit. By 1985, the Washington Post named Petworth among the younger bands being worked by Full House, and London Records exported a 21:26 live side titled “Special Dedication” on Go-Go — The Sound of Washington D.C..

Connections
Petworth connects neighborhood identity, the school/theatre live circuit, Full House’s 1985 push, and the same London Records export package that carried Redds & the Boys and Shady Groove. That makes Petworth especially useful for showing how local Go-Go moved from neighborhood tapes into international record-market packaging.
